Chapter 3: Reunited
Kado slowly opened his eyes. He was lying in the middle of a dark, deserted road. He very slowly stood up and looked around. He knew this street; it was where the resistance was based. Looking down the road he saw Lazarus's Bar, but there was something wrong with it. The door was boarded shut, the lights were off, and it seemed like there was no one home. The sky was dark and cloudy, like night time during a storm, yet there was no rain. There was an eerie silence in the air, with no signs of life anywhere. The buildings looked derelict and run-down, like no one had lived there in a very long time.
"Where the hell is everyone...?" he muttered to himself.
He saw something move in the reflection of the street in the window. Kado wheeled around, and saw something moving in the distance. He ran towards the mysterious figure, getting closer and closer. Whoever it was they were running away from him, but Kado was faster. He managed to corner them in a dark alleyway, trying not to appear threatening. Whoever it was seemed scared.
"It's alright..." said Kado "I'm not going to hurt you..."
The figure turned slightly. It was a girl. Her face was hidden by her hair.
"Kado...?" she said.
Kado's heart stopped. He knew that voice. It was Rachel.
